Summary

The Junior Systems Administrator must possess a strong knowledge of a variety of programs and applications that are currently in use. The Systems Administrator must also be a team player and be willing to assist others when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Assisting the Systems Administrator in installing, upgrading, and maintaining servers and associated systems.

· Acting as an escalation point for the Desktop Support team and responding to user requests as needed.

· Create and build upon existing documentation for specific applications and/or servers and versions that pertain to the System Operations department.

· Assist in making recommendations regarding server and network-related equipment and software.

· C0-Develop and evaluate options in infrastructure planning to support new applications and technologies.

· Monitor available space on network volumes, and move, delete, or organize accordingly to maintain adequate disk space for network operations.

· Analyze server/network activity and maintain performance monitoring systems as well as other software programs (e.g., intrusion detection, virus scanning applications, etc.).

· Conduct product evaluations of hardware and software identifying strengths, weaknesses, and potential benefits.

· Participate in the development of policies and procedures for use of network resources.

· Resolve user issues in a timely manner.

· Maintain a reliable backup and recovery plan for system data.

· Document complete and accurate hardware and software specifications and details along with resolutions to problems, and work performed.

· Communicate immediately, when necessary, with all applicable personnel regarding network problems.

· Be available to all employees, whenever the need arises, to troubleshoot and/or correct problems.

Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or information systems or a related field. Professional certifications as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) are desired, but not mandatory.

· Must possess working knowledge of information systems analysis, design, and development.

· Must possess knowledge of networking concepts including routers, and local and wide-area networking protocols.

· Must possess knowledge of methods, procedures, techniques, materials, and equipment utilized in the installation, repair, and maintenance of computers and electronic equipment.

· Must be skilled in the application of Microsoft Windows 10/11, Windows server 2012-2019, Office 365 and Exchange administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, Hyper-V, and VMWare a plus.

· Must be able to maintain a cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work activities.

· Must possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and describe complex technical systems in non-technical terms.

· Must be capable of troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
