OB TITLE: Security Lead

REPORTS TO: Director of Facility and Event Operations

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time; Hourly; Overtime Eligible

JOB SUMMARY:

The Security Team is responsible for the safety and security of the facility, patrons, employees, and property of the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. A terrific partnership with Columbus State University also ensures that our security team provides the same level responsibility during Schwob School of Music activities. The Security Lead position must maintain a high level of organization, efficiency, accuracy and customer service to assist leading the RiverCenter Security Team and supporting events.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Typical work routine includes, but not limited to:

Secures premises and personnel during regular business hours and events by monitoring cameras, walking property, inspecting equipment, and all access points.
Administer and maintain sign in for all staff, visitors, vendors, and contractors. Must be able to maintain a list of everyone in facility at any given time for emergency situations.
Limit loss and damage by reporting and documenting all maintenance or equipment issues.
Enforces security and protection rules and maintains order.
Monitors and answers designated radio communications, adhering to proper radio procedures.
Ensures the safe access to facilities for all patrons.
May provide input on security policies and procedures.
Responds to emergency calls; administers basic first aid and emergency medical treatment when necessary.
Supervise event security contractors; may perform disciplinary actions and terminations.
Prepares personnel work schedules, ensuring adequate staff is available for events and operations.
Develops and implements security training plans; ensures the overall smooth flow and execution of the safety and security operation.
Recommends modification and/or replacement of equipment.
Investigates any unusual or unauthorized activities and takes appropriate action.
Arranges fire and emergency drills. Checks alarm systems and fire extinguishing equipment.
Prepares fire and security reports and activity logs.
Maintains records and files on security matters such as security equipment and checklists.
Provides training to subordinates in security program rules and procedures.
Respond immediately to emergency situations, patron issues, or disturbances within the area of responsibility.
Responsible for keeping a professional appearance and perception of the RiverCenter Security Team.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience in security, event crowd control, guest relations and customer service a must.
A valid driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Strong computer skills, knowledge of equal opportunity and public relations and supervisory experience needed.
Some knowledge of basic fire protection, safety, and security methods and procedures preferred.
Must be able to work flexible hours when needed.
Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills, written, and oral communication skills and team building skills.
Must be able to operate within high-stress situations and to effectively deal with difficult people or situations that suddenly arise.
Ability to enforce regulations and rules while maintaining a non-assertive, non- threatening manner.
Ability to demonstrate leadership and supervisory skills.
Must be able to work successfully both as part of a team and independently with limited instructions.
Must be able to maintain strict company, staff, and guest confidentiality.
Ability to become CPR, First Aid, and AED certified.
Must be able lift materials or equipment up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to patrol facility to include moving between multiple floors.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

SCHEDULE AND STATUS:

Position is full-time, but often requires overtime during RiverCenter’s performance season.

Nights and weekends are required.

Salary is competitive with other area education and programming organizations with a generous benefit package, including standard health benefits, Flexible Spending Account, company provided Cancer coverage and 403(b) eligibility after twelve (12) months’ employment.
