Systems Administrator

The Wise County Administrator’s Office is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Systems Administrator. This is a 100% on-site position and reports to the Director of IT. A competitive candidate will be able to support existing workstation and server infrastructure, including break/fix and the proactive management of systems to ensure they are properly patched and maintained to minimize downtime. Software and hardware implementation includes Microsoft O365, proprietary County software, cloud VOIP technology, Windows server, and Windows and Mac workstations. The ideal candidate should be capable of following existing IT processes, suggesting improvements to existing processes, and demonstrating innovation in developing new processes.

Responsibilities & Objectives of the Role

Maintain and troubleshoot mission critical IT infrastructure, including network routers, firewalls, switches, operating systems, on premise and cloud-based applications, servers, workstations, and mobile devices.

Partner with the IT Director to enable faster and smarter business practices.

Communicate and work with external vendors in partnership with the IT Director.

Perform Business Analytics of proprietary County data collected via software used in the assessment and collection of revenue processes.

Perform server and workstation administration tasks related to active directory. users/computers and group policy.

Implement Data Backup Integrity and Testing practices.

Service cable and rack servers/network equipment as needed.

Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including servers, workstations, mobile devices, printers, phones, security patches for Microsoft and 3rd party vendors and LAN/WAN infrastructure.

Other related duties, as assigned.

Requirements

Good communication skills.

Ability to receive coaching/training.

Ability to work independently, prioritize requests and meet project deadlines.

Minimum 3 years of experience as a full-time end user support/systems administrator with proven success (prior references required).

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred

Associate degree or higher in information technology

Network administration experience

SQL report writing and Access report writing

Professional Certifications
