MHVillage and Datacomp Appraisal Services (two closely affiliated companies) are seeking candidates to join their joint technology team and support the technology operations of the combined organizations. This System Administrator position will report directly to the Technology Team Manager and help manage the hardware and tools needed to ensure the website availability, overall performance and business growth.
MHVillage operates mhvillage.com, a website with millions visitors per year and is dedicated to aiding in the sale, purchase, and promotion of manufactured housing. Datacomp also participates in the manufactured housing industry as a value and data provider.
This SysAdmin position is an excellent opportunity for a system administrator with strong technical skills and enjoys hands-on work. The sysadmin will work closely with the rest of the technology team which consists of Front-end, Back-end, and Full Stack developers and DevOps specialists. This position does not have any direct reports but will be a subject matter expert for issues related to the organization’s technology.
Responsibilities for System Administrator
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
- Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
- Implement and monitor regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
- Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
- Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
Qualifications for System Administrator
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
- 3-5 years of system administration, network administration, or database experience
- System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
- Working knowledge of virtualization, containers, Docker or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
- Experience with scripting and automation tools
- Enjoys working with open source software
- A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
- Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
