Description
We are in search of a Network Engineer based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States. In this role, you will be tasked with the configuration, operation, and maintenance of various network systems, ensuring their seamless operation. This position offers a long-term contract employment opportunity within the technology industry.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the operability and connectivity of network and telephony equipment.
- Install, configure, and maintain network and telephony equipment and associated peripherals.
- Perform problem determination and resolution for network and telephony systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain network and telephony infrastructure cabling.
- Implement security measures for network and telephony equipment, system/data backups, and network security.
- Maintain an accurate inventory and system drawings of network, telephony, and cabling equipment and components.
- Maintain District network and telephony hardware and software standards.
- Oversee the daily operations of the District’s Windows, VMWare, and Apple Xserve servers and applications.
- Provide stable, secure, and appropriately scaled server environments.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with the members of the Information Technology staff.
- Communicate effectively within the team and with other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Cisco ASA, Cisco Routers, and Cisco Technologies is mandatory.
- Experience with Aruba Wireless is a must.
- Knowledge of WAN - Wide Area Network is essential.
- Familiarity with Telephony Systems is required.
- The candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team is expected.
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in networking would be beneficial.
- The candidate should be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize them effectively.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving network issues is crucial.
- The ability to document network processes and workflows is required.
- The candidate should be up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and trends.
- Experience in network design and implementation would be an advantage.
- The ability to manage network security measures is necessary.
- The candidate should be willing to work flexible hours if required.
