Role Overview
Pivot Energy is seeking a motivated and self-directed Director of Communications to join our Marketing and Communications Team, headquartered in Denver. The Director of Communications will be responsible for identifying and developing Pivot’s public relations strategy including key messaging, social media, crafting a media strategy, and communicating with the press to drive business growth and positioning goals. This position supports the company headquarters and regional offices throughout the country. This is an exciting, fast-paced role requiring creative thinking and problem-solving skills to succeed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Elevating Pivot’s positioning as thought leaders with key industry and client segments
- Establishing KPIs to drive growth and share of voice
- Creating and maintaining Pivot’s strategic messaging guide, ensuring our positions on industry trends are current and mission-aligned
- Proactively pursuing media attention that supports Pivot’s projects and company objectives
- Developing and implementing a strategic media plan that aligns with our goals and objectives
- Monitoring market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for new messaging
- Collaborating with the community and engagement team to plan and execute grassroots campaigns
- Identifying events, awards, and speaking opportunities to promote Pivot’s leaders
- Developing relationships with media organizations and important influencers
- Delegating tasks to members of the PR team, including agencies, and monitoring their progress
- Creating and executing a social media strategy that supports Pivot’s public relations and community engagement efforts
- Tracking campaign success and media coverage
- Presenting reports on the effectiveness of campaigns
- Ensuring brand consistency in all marketing content
- Managing public relations budgets
- Addressing negative press or PR crises if they occur
Required Competencies
- 8+ years of professional experience in sales, marketing, public relations, communications, or a similar role
- Prior experience working for Fortune 500 communications or public relationship team
- Self-starter with strong self-motivation and a proven capacity to work in a fast-paced, highly fluid environment
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Must be detail-oriented with hands-on execution capability
- Familiarity with renewable industry trends and solar markets
- Ability to manage multiple projects and partners
- Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce, Hubspot), PR software tracking (Cision, Meltwater), G-Suite, Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Competencies
- Prior experience in the solar industry is a plus

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS The base salary range for this position is $105,000 - 175,000 depending on relevant experience, along with eligibility for the company’s substantial bonus plan, with a target bonus of 30% of annual salary (prorated in first year based on start date).
