Position Summary
The Interoperability Specialist is accountable for overseeing the integration of various electronic health record platforms, which includes identifying any gaps or redundancies in the data to ensure that it is accurate and up to date. Additionally, the Interoperability Specialist is responsible for acquiring new sources of hospitalization data, which can help the company improve its services. They closely monitor the current data to avoid disruptions and ensure that it is utilized effectively. This role demands high attention to detail, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with other stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating discussions with practices to obtain approval to progress with integration implementation.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders and technology delivery team to document data needs, document how incoming data needs to be utilized by digital assets, and create actionable user stories for the engineering team to execute.
- Supporting the product and software development lifecycles.
- Monitoring the quality and integrity of incoming data to ensure existing connections remain functional.
- Working with third-party data aggregators to create and maintain materials that can be socialized with practices.
- Routinely checking data to ensure accurate volume and regional representation.
- Collaborating cross-functionally to schedule integration installations for practices.
- Reporting on initiative progress to multiple levels of leadership.
- Working to understand existing connections with healthcare data exchanges to optimize connections and expand to new ones.
- Acting as the SME for interoperability on the Enterprise and Digital Product teams.
- Supporting various responsibilities within the Enterprise Product team to ensure smooth delivery of products that are scalable, configurable, personalized, designed with intent, and continuously improved.
Required Knowledge, Education, & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Business, Computer Science, or a related field of study; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Minimum five (5) years of experience working in an IT support-related role
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a Health IT or similar position
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working with IT databases, such as SQL
- Minimum two (2) years direct experience with healthcare industry data standards (e.g., HL7, HIPAA, FHIR, IHE)
- Current certification relating to healthcare industry data standards
- Strong track record of managing multiple projects with demonstrated ability to work independently in rapidly-changing environments
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; highly collaborative approach to work
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based technologies
Highly Preferred Skills, Abilities, & Qualifications
- Working knowledge of major clinical and healthcare software products, standards, and interfaces
- Hands-on experience with healthcare applications as a user or vendor
- Experience working in a medical practice or similar environment is a HUGE plus
- Experience with high-growth business environments including ability to roll-up sleeves and dig into the details of the work
- High degree of self-motivation
- Demonstrated ability to convey complex in a manner that others can understand, and ability to interpret complex information from others
