The Senior Systems Administrator will primarily be responsible for managing the network and server system infrastructure as well as the POS software for Rice Tire. This role ensures that data is securely stored, and regular backups of the data and information are performed. The Senior Systems Administrator monitors the systems’ performance to ensure they are functioning smoothly and securely and researches and recommends new approaches to improve the systems as requested. The Senior Systems Administrator serves as the secondary point of contact for incoming helpdesk calls and tickets and provides support to end users for desktop and printer changes.
Primary responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Ø Troubleshoot Tier 2 & 3 challenges.
Ø Educate the user community on the proper and secure use of system resources; assist the user community in utilizing software to its fullest capabilities ensuring that rules which govern the use of the system are followed.
Ø Schedule system maintenance (purge files, upgrades, etc.) not interfering with user needs, i.e., evenings and weekend nights when possible.
Ø Troubleshoot and perform technical analysis to resolve issues and streamline operations.
Ø Thoroughly document all incidents, problems, resolutions, and any changes made to the systems.
Ø Make recommendations to purchase hardware, software, and system components.
Ø Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of IT systems.
Ø Audit all electronic systems and communications as necessary to ensure compliance.
Ø Maintain and monitor the backup and disaster recovery solutions of systems.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and/or experience with Phocas software (or similar sales analysis software), Microsoft 365, MDM systems for Apple devices, Mimecast, Sophos appliances and endpoint protection, Subnetting, VLANs, Hyper-V (or similar virtualization technology), Windows Server, Ubuntu/Centos Server, Active Directory, Python (or other scripting languages), SFTP, SSL certificates, SSLVPN or ZTNA configuration and maintenance, PDQ Deploy, SolarWinds SEM, Veeam, AWS, DB2, and familiarity with Point of Sale and Warehouse Management systems.
