JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Security is responsible to ensure the safety of all hotel guests, office tenants, visitors, and employees. This position is responsible for managing an ongoing program to safeguard the physical assets of the complex. The Director of Security will be instrumental in creating a positive impact on guest, tenant, visitor and employee relations. This position has the responsibility of development and implementation of complex wide safety programs to heighten awareness and reduce the likelihood of employee tenants, visitor or guest accidents.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, specializing in Criminal Justice, and or related major; or equivalent experience is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive Security Experience or in a similar role, preferably in the Hospitality Industry required. Security Management experience is preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES
The primary responsibilities for the Director of Security include but are not limited to:
- Maintain awareness of all occurrences within the complex.
- Ensure good relations between the security staff and the hotel guests office tenants, visitors and employees.
- Train and supervise all security personnel.
- Ensure proper appearance and behavior of all security personnel.
- Survey the complex on a regular basis to maintain security measures and recommend methods for improvement.
- Be familiar with and maintain all phases of security administration: report, files, payroll, personnel schedules, policy and procedures, house rules, laws of arrest and recent court decisions affecting the industry.
- Must be familiar with the responsibilities and duties of the fire watch guard.
- Maintain a chronological log of all occurrences within the complex and, whenever necessary, complete an incident report.
- Complete all reporting functions as required by the managing director of the Boston Harbor Hotel and the property manager of Rowes Wharf Associates or their assignee.
- Develop and implement a complex wide safety program to heighten awareness and reduce the likelihood of employee tenant or guest accidents.
- Attend meetings as required.
- All other duties or projects as assigned by the General Manager of the Boston Harbor Hotel or the property manager.

- Ability to exercise sound logic and judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources.
- Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing. A second language is desirable.
- Must have experience in all industry relevant payroll reporting systems.
