Life as a Cloud Engineer at CES:
Our global IT team is experiencing an exciting transformation as we move into the cloud. The Cloud Engineering team is responsible for maintaining the cloud infrastructure and ensuring that it meets the highest standards, including proper security controls, automation using Infrastructure-as-Code, resiliency, and cost-effective serverless models. The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, architecting, and delivering on cloud migration of legacy software. Additionally, they will advise on and implement serverless technologies to replace on-prem and other legacy software applications or services. They will also have expertise in connecting on-prem data centers with cloud networks using Direct Connect, VPN, and/or other methods, as well as configuring firewalls, route tables, and Palo Alto and/or Meraki devices.
Your Objectives:
- Architect, design, and implement cloud infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code
- Migrate networks, services, applications, and environments from on-premises data centers to AWS following cloud best practices
- Automate CI/CD deployments using industry standards with tools like GitLab Runners
- Collaborate with technical and delivery teams to analyze cloud platform requirements and define technical specifications
- Assist in network setup and troubleshooting, including Direct Connect, VPN, Palo Alto and/or Meraki devices, and firewalls
- Support the resolution of third-line incidents and problems relating to cloud platforms and infrastructure
- Aid in the implementation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines
- Write, review, and ensure technical documentation such as HLDs, LLDs, Runbooks, and Playbooks
Essential Skills & Objectives:
- Extensive AWS cloud infrastructure/platform experience
- Demonstrable experience of Infrastructure-as-Code technologies (CDK, Terraform)
- Expertise in designing and implementing AWS networking solutions including VPCs, subnets, routing tables, security groups, and network ACLs
- Effective communication of technical concepts and designs through documentation, high-level presentations, and verbal methods
- A deep understanding of cloud operations, monitoring and logging tools
- An understanding of cloud security models and best practices
- An understanding of cloud design and architectural patterns (Serverless, Microservices)
Desired Skills & Experiences:
- Experience with connecting AWS Cloud Services to existing on-premises data centers
- Experience with physical networking, specifically Palo Alto and/or Meraki, with an understanding of related networking concepts including firewalls, route tables, VPN, BGP, SASE, etc
- Knowledge/experience of JIRA Software and Confluence
- Experience working in an agile environment and following agile principles
- Ability to manage and prioritize ticket-based workloads along with incoming side requests
- Proficiency in working with non-technical end-users, translating technical concepts, and understanding and resolving user issues
