General Description
We are in search of a resourceful IT/OT (Information Technology/Operational Technology) Engineer to bolster our team. This role requires proficiency in both IT and OT systems, along with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and maintenance. As an IT/OT Engineer – Cybersecurity Specialist, you will be responsible for architecting cybersecurity and secure networking solutions, ensuring system reliability and upkeep, mentoring system support specialists and other IT/OT engineers, while collaborating across teams to enhance operational efficiency.
Specific Responsibilities
- Security Architecture: Design and implementation of robust security architectures for IT/OT environments, ensuring effective network segmentation, access controls, and threat detection mechanisms.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct in-depth risk assessments and vulnerability analyses of IT/OT infrastructure, guiding the identification of potential weaknesses and the prioritization of mitigation efforts.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with IT, OT, engineering, operations, and security teams to integrate cybersecurity initiatives seamlessly into business processes and operational workflows.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards, regulations, and industry best practices across IT/OT operations, maintaining documentation and facilitating assessments as necessary.
- Security Awareness: Develop and deliver cybersecurity training programs and awareness campaigns for IT/OT personnel, empowering them to recognize and respond to security threats effectively.
- Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and trends, evaluating their potential impact on organizational security posture and guiding the adoption of innovative solutions.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of cybersecurity policies, procedures, incident reports, and compliance documentation, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- 50% Regional travel to customer sites (10-25% overnight) within North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia
Required Competencies
- Extensive experience (3-5+ years) in IT/OT engineering roles with a focus on cybersecurity, preferably in industrial or critical infrastructure sectors.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing cybersecurity strategies, processes, and procedures in dynamic environments.
- Deep understanding of IT/OT systems, protocols, architectures, and technologies, including industrial control systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS).
- Proven experience implementing cybersecurity technology including Managed Antivirus, SIEM, ELM, NSM, Network Monitoring, Automated Patch Management, Password Management, Managed File Transfer.
- Hands on experience with Physical and Virtual systems and associated infrastructure hardware and software.
- Proficiency in cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and regulations (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, IEC 62443).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the capacity to influence and drive change across organizational levels.
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Preferred Experience/Competencies
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISA (Certified Information Security Auditor), or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable.
- In depth knowledge of Secure Network Architectures for critical infrastructure environments
- Experience with a wide variety of cybersecurity hardware/software packages including:
- Trellix Endpoint Security, Whitelisting, SIEM
- Network Monitoring/Asset Management (Nozomi, Dragos, Claroty)
- Fortinet, FortiGate, FortiSIEM, FortiSOAR
- Splunk
- Cisco products
- OT Cybersecurity Assessment and Cybersecurity Program implementation and planning
