Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Venture Scout to lead our venture scouting team. This pivotal role will be responsible for identifying and evaluating high-potential investment opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the startup ecosystem, and contributing to the strategic direction of our venture investments. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of emerging technologies and market trends, coupled with a strong network of industry contacts.
Key Responsibilities - Scouting and Evaluation:
- Identify and assess high-potential startups and investment opportunities aligned with our strategic focus.
- Conduct thorough due diligence, including market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling.
- Evaluate startup business models, product offerings, and team dynamics to determine investment viability.
- Networking and Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and industry experts.
- Represent at industry conferences, networking events, and pitch sessions.
- Develop and leverage a broad network to source investment opportunities and gather market intelligence.
- Strategic Input:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define and refine investment strategies and priorities.
- Provide insights and recommendations to inform investment decisions and portfolio management.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure a competitive edge in scouting activities.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of venture scouts and analysts.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment focused on achieving investment goals.
- Oversee the development and execution of scouting strategies and processes.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on scouting activities, investment opportunities, and market trends.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of scouting activities, evaluations, and interactions.
Qualifications - Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or a related field. At least 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role.
