The Information Security Management Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of the information security management system (ISMS) at Murata Electronics and affiliate companies to ensure robust security and privacy measures are in place. This role includes implementing and maintaining processes and procedures as well as providing guidance, training, and assistance to business teams, stakeholders, and employees. The Information Security Management Specialist will work closely with other departments such as IT, sales, and digital marketing to ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and standards.

What To Expect (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Supports the development, documentation, and implementation of information security as well as privacy compliance processes and procedures.
- Assists in conducting risk assessment and management activities which includes conducting audits to identify information security risks.
- Supports the ISM and privacy training development, awareness activities, and delivering training to employees.
- Prepares regular reports, documentation, and presentations on information security activities, incidents, and compliance.
- Coordinates and manages assigned projects to implement new and updated processes or initiatives.
- Collaborate with other teams to integrate security requirements as well as processes into IT systems and applications.
- Supports ongoing efforts and activities to ensure compliance with privacy as well as other relevant legal requirements.
- Under supervision, assist in responding to security incidents following the established incident response process.
- Supports the deployment and management of relevant tools and technologies.
- Communicates with internal and external stakeholders to obtain current and applicable information.
- Investigate and provide necessary ISM information in response to customer inquiries or surveys.
- Promote a culture of security awareness and best practices across the organization.
- Communicate and attend occasional meetings with colleagues in Japan or other locations which may be scheduled outside of typical working hours.
Miscellaneous Job Responsibilities
- Supports department team members with tasks related to processing approvals, development of company BCP (Business Continuity Plan) and company regulation system, as well as other needs that support meeting department objectives.
- Assists other functions, tasks, or projects managed within the department determined by current needs.
What Is Required (Qualifications)
- Associate’s degree in information security, cyber security, information technology, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in cyber security, governance, risk, or compliance.
- Experience leading or managing cross-departmental projects.
- Understanding of risk management principles and practices. Knowledge of information security concepts and terminology.
- Motivated to learn and apply security best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Self-starter, result driven, analytical skills as well as verbal and written communication skills.
- Passionate about information security while also remaining logical.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Relevant information security certification (e.g. Security+, ISC2 Associate, SSCP, ISACA, GSIF, GSEC, etc.).
- Familiar with information security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, CIS) and compliance requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.
- Familiar with Osano platform.
