Hiring for Authorization Support Specialist (100% Remote Position) Missouri, MO, USA Candidates only
Position Purpose
We are seeking an Authorization Support Specialist to ensure all prior authorization requests are addressed accurately and within contractual timelines. This entry-level role assists the utilization management team in documenting authorization requests and obtaining precise and timely documentation related to members' healthcare eligibility and access.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and perform data entry to maintain and update authorization requests in the utilization management system.
- Assist the utilization management team with ongoing tracking and documentation of authorizations and referrals in line with policies and guidelines.
- Contribute to the authorization review process by documenting necessary medical information, including history, diagnosis, and prognosis, for referral to clinical reviewers.
- Stay current with healthcare authorization processes, policies, and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all policies and standards.
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Entry-level position, typically requiring minimal previous experience.
- Understanding of medical terminology and insurance preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Data Entry: Ability to perform typing tasks throughout an 8-hour workday.
- Medical Terminology: Familiarity with medical terms.
- Authorization: Experience with authorization processes is advantageous.
