About This Role
As a Network Support Specialist at LVT, you will respond to alerts of units offline or underperforming and remotely troubleshoot them, working to restore functionality. You will diagnose cellular issues including connectivity, stability, and data transfer speeds. You will troubleshoot issues at all layers of the OSI model affecting each unit’s gateway and any devices on its LAN including cameras, speakers, and Linux hosts.Utilize charts, logs, internal documentation, and other data to troubleshoot and diagnose connectivity issues with offline or underperforming units. Collaborate with technicians via our ticketing system and occasionally by phone to resolve physical connectivity and operability issues. Strive to resolve a high percentage of incoming work efficiently, working with peers and experts as needed. Document all troubleshooting steps and findings thoroughly for future reference.
- This particular position also requires registering with the state of Utah as an Alarm Agent. This process includes a federal background check/fingerprinting and an application. This is separate from the background check you would complete for general employment eligibility at LVT.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot down or underperforming units as assigned or escalated to your team
- Improve quality of cellular connections by remotely surveying locations and their available cellular infrastructure, adjusting SIM configurations and recommending antenna or placement changes when appropriate
- Diagnose and troubleshoot connectivity issues on 802.11 wireless networks, including environmental interference, channel optimization, throughput, packet loss, etc.
- Troubleshoot WAN and LAN connectivity involving configuration issues at the device level as well as within the ISP or device management portals
- Assist technicians over the phone, troubleshooting network related issues with hardware in the field
- Escalate LVT platform related issues within the Senior Systems Support Specialist or Services Support Engineer teams
Qualifications
- CompTIA Server+ certified or equivalent hands-on experience
- CompTIA Network+ certified or equivalent certification
- 1+ years of professional networking experience working with various wireless connectivity technologies, including sub-GHz radios, 802.11, and cellular.
