Job Title: Systems Engineer
Location: Bothell, WA
Pay: $52/hr
Overall Purpose:
- This role entails being the primary interface to coordinate and lead the work to produce the Business Requirements document (BR) and System Requirements (SR) for very large, complex projects.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, implement, and document end-to-end solutions across IT and Network organizations.Lead planning with third-party IVR vendors to create interfaces/APIs to support integrations with Hosted Integrated Contact Services platform.
- Provide requirements as part of solutions to automate operations, eliminate manual reentry, improve cycle time, and meet work center and product needs.
- Develop end-to-end flows to support Sales/Contracting, Ordering, Provisioning, Maintenance, Reporting, external user interfaces, system test, and User Acceptance Test.
- Troubleshoot network problems with 3rd party vendors and customers.
- Ability to delve into multiple systems and create network reports.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- This role would be responsible for managing Akamai CDN configurations for high traffic, highly iterative customer-facing websites.
- Work with stakeholders to design, author, implement, and test Akamai changes in a preproduction environment and ultimately, once complete, propagate to production.
- Provide technical design and architectural leadership and work hand-in-hand with Akamai professional services to assess impacts of changes.
- Apply performance and web acceleration techniques.
- Help set up and maintain reports related to traffic and usage data, dashboards for usage and performance, and documentation designed to inform and notify stakeholders.
- Create and maintain tools interfacing with various Akamai features.
- Perform Akamai-related maintenance activities on a regular basis.
- Be “on-call” for Akamai-related events that could occur during off-hours and be available for helping troubleshoot customer or release-impacting incidents.
- Research, analyze, and recommend new technologies, rationalization opportunities, standard processes, tools, and techniques to further the firm’s application and enterprise technology architecture strategies.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have 3 years of real-world Akamai configuration experience managing various Akamai features across multiple domains. Experience with other CDNs considered (e.g., Fastly, CloudFlare, Imperva, Cloudfront, etc.).
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK stack, ability to understand metrics and impact to system performance, and ability to build dashboards and alerts to ensure system reliability.
- Experience with Siteshield and other Akamai security features.
- Strong scripting and coding ability across multiple languages and technologies.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, on-call as needed.
- Proven experience optimizing reliability and performance and scaling technical infrastructure in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to provide data-driven recommendations for critical decision-making, mainly around system reconfiguration and improvement.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in cloud engineering, site reliability, DevOps, system infrastructure, or a related technical role.
- 5+ years of experience building and/or supporting web applications.
- 5+ years of Linux Operating Systems experience including scripting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical information in a clear manner to peers, developers, and senior leaders.

- Internet security-related experience.
- Experience in performance tuning and application monitoring.
- Experience in architecture and design of web-based architecture.
- Experience in a technical leadership capacity - team lead/manager, etc.
- Experience in cloud technologies: AWS, Azure, etc.
- Familiarity with HTML5, JavaScript frameworks, and CSS3.
