How You Can Make a Difference
The Senior Manager of People Safety will be responsible for overseeing physical security and people safety operations to protect team members, visitors, and company assets. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
This role is typically performed hybrid (combination of onsite in Draper, Utah and remote).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Oversee the daily operations of physical security and people safety programs.
- Lead and mentor a team of safety and security professionals and facilities staff.
- Collaborate with senior management to align safety initiatives with organizational goals.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance safety and security measures and support the safety and well-being of team members and physical assets .
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential safety hazards.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
- Develop, maintain, and improve security protocols (SOPs) and guidelines for each office, including access control standards and policies, incident response, security guard operations, and deployment, technical security solutions, safety and emergency preparedness protocols and training for staff.
- Define metrics and reporting to measure overall performance.
- Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct regular drills and training sessions.
- Monitor and evaluate incident reports and security breaches, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Provide investigative support and expertise for matters requiring focused attention.
- Ensure incidents are thoroughly investigated and provide incident reports, briefings and after-action recommendations to leadership
- Design and deliver safety training programs for team members at all levels.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness through ongoing education and communication.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to safety and security incidents.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on safety performance and initiatives.
- Liaise with external agencies, law enforcement, and emergency services as needed.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure cohesive safety strategies.
- Maintain and manage relationships with key vendors, ensuring that their contracts and service level agreements are regularly aligned with KPIs .
- Manages and carries out the personnel actions for direct reports, including but not limited to hiring and scheduling; training and evaluating; coaching and managing performance; making salary, merit, or other compensation recommendations for team of direct reports; and making recommendations and/or taking corrective or disciplinary action as appropriate. Ensures that direct reports have knowledge of the Company’s policies and procedures regarding this area of service, receive training, and are prepared to perform work at the appropriate level.
Education And Experience
What you will need to be successful
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Occupational Health and Safety, Security Management, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in risk and safety and security management with at least 3 years in a leadership role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Former federal law enforcement experience and a strong law enforcement network preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP)) are highly desirable.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI).
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Proven experience in risk assessment and management.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively across various departments and with external partners.
- Experience in reviewing technical policies and developing standard operating procedures
- Work requires a normal range of hearing, vision, and verbal communication skills, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment and operate a keyboard and other office equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- The ability to perform work at a computer station for 6-8+ hours a day and function in an environment with frequent interruptions is required.
- At times, subject to sitting for prolonged periods.
- May experience elevated levels of stress during periods of increased activity and with work e ntailing multiple deadlines.
Salary Range
$104500.00 To $130,000.00 / year
