Compensation

We believe in paying people fairly, so we've established a compensation model aimed to ensure everyone at Fearless — regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, nationality, or negotiation skills — is given equal pay for equal work. Our approach to compensation is intended to ensure our total package serves all of your needs and includes base pay, medical and other benefits, performance rewards, 401k matching, plus a few perks (tech and wellness reimbursement programs)! Our salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location and provide team members salary growth within a salary grade over time. Team members automatically progress within a salary range through annual increases (given to reward service at Fearless) or merit increases (given to reward and individual's demonstrated performance and growth within the position). Fearless team members are also eligible for discretionary bonuses based on company performance.

Summary
The Information Assurance Security Engineer will apply a full range of Information Assurance (IA) policies, principles, and techniques to ensure the security integrity of information systems processing sensitive or classified information. This role involves maintaining the operational security posture of information systems or programs, performing threat modeling exercises, and creating and maintaining comprehensive information system security documentation.
Responsibilities And Contributions
Organizational and Leadership Role
- Works closely with system administrators, network engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated security solutions and support organizational objectives.
- Implements and oversees IA policies and principles to secure information systems and data. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Ensures information systems comply with federal and organizational security policies, procedures, and regulations, such as FISMA, NIST, and ISO standards.
Functional Role
- Maintains the operational security posture for assigned information systems or programs. Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
- Performs threat modeling exercises to identify and mitigate potential security threats and vulnerabilities. Develop and implement strategies to address identified risks.
- Creates, updates, and maintains information system security documentation, including system security plans, risk assessments, and security control implementation descriptions.
- Conducts regular risk assessments and security audits to identify and mitigate potential security risks. Implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Provides security awareness training to personnel to ensure they understand and adhere to security policies and procedures.
- Participates in incident response activities, including investigating security breaches, conducting forensic analysis, and implementing remediation measures.
Must-Have Skills
Essential Skills, Experience, or Competencies
- Ability to obtain required security clearance for this project: Public Trust.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Must have current or previous government experience
- A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated working experience as an Information Assurance Security Engineer.
- In-depth understanding of IA principles, cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with threat modeling and risk management practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
Icing-on-the-Cake Skills
- Experience with information systems processing classified information.
- Knowledge of emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.
- Familiarity with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management tools.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or Security+ are highly desirable.
