The Idaho Department of Labor currently has an opening for an IT Manager IV position in our central office in Boise.
This position provides direct supervision and management for the Department’s information technology teams and ensures Department needs are met through technology both by internal teams and in coordination with ITS.
Many of the IT support services are provided by the State’s Information Technology Services (ITS) team. This position will serve as the primary liaison with ITS to ensure IT needs are well understood and facilitate consistently high IT service levels.
The selected individual must have experience managing complex IT Infrastructure across a broad range of technologies, as well as strong skills in project management, customer service, conflict resolution, time management, negotiation and contract management.

Example Of Duties
Management
- Directs multiple projects through subordinate IT managers.
- Directs development and approves implementation of policies and procedures.
- Evaluates performance.
- Directs and monitors training activities.
- Plans team structure and staffing needs throughout long-term projects and in consideration of grant funding to ensure a strong IT organization.
- Directs, develops, and presents to management various analyses and solutions.
Operations
- Ensures resources and organizational structure are operating effectively.
- Directs the integration of technology solutions across multiple units.
- Develops and manages current and future budget plans, including prioritizing expenditures.
- Negotiates contracts with vendors for IT equipment and services.
Software Development
- Oversees software development and application support teams to ensure efficient software development that meets the actual needs of the Department.
Service Delivery
- Meets with agency customers on a regular basis to ensure open and frequent communications as it relates to IT service delivery and expectations.
- Handles and addresses service delivery issues directly, and/or in coordination with ITS.
- Ensures agency customers are well informed of IT operations that impact them.
- Participates in customer strategic planning and project support to ensure technology is delivered timely and meets customer expectations.

Considerable knowledge of current industry trends, products and services in information systems, processing equipment, and software.Typically gained by at least five years of progressively responsible experience and/or education in the information technology (IT) field within the last ten years.
- Experience managing a professional information technology staff through subordinate supervisors. Typically gained by at least three years of managing a professional information technology staff through subordinate supervisors.
- Experience developing and controlling an operating budget. Typically gained by at least one year work experience developing and controlling an operating budget.
- Experience developing and implementing IT policies and procedures. Typically gained by at least two years of experience developing and implementing IT policies and procedures. This experience should have impacted a large program and/or multiple programs.
- Experienceadvising top-level management regarding major IT matters. Typically gained by five years of experience advising top-level management regarding major IT matters. This will include identifying when an issue needs to be escalated, appropriate audience to notify and method of communication.
- Experience developing short-and long-range plans and assessing training needs. Typically gained by at least two years of experience in short and long-range planning including developing and implementing policies and procedures. Experience should have included identifying current and future needs, analyzing and forecasting trends and identifying solutions
