We are recruiting for a reliable and driven professional who will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of a Windows servers Environment, related Applications and Infrastructure. This person will report to our Manager of Technical Services and Support. This is an on-site position and may include travel to remote locations. This position would be an excellent opportunity for a Jr. Engineer who is looking to move into a critical role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- VDI Management: Support the implementation, configuration, and management of VDI environments, such as VMware Horizon, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Assist in deploying virtual desktops, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Monitor and maintain VDI infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networking components.
- Maintain patching and reboot schedules leveraging RMM
- Assist in backups and restores, as well as ensuring that backups for both the VDI and VSI environments are tested and confirmed.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Directly work with the Help Desk to provide Tier 1/Tier 2 support for VDI-related issues, responding to and resolving end-user problems in a timely manner.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to virtual desktops, including connectivity, application access, and performance problems.
- Work with senior engineers to escalate and resolve more complex issues.
- User Management: Manage user profiles, permissions, and access within virtual environments.
- Ensure security policies and protocols are adhered to in the virtual desktop and server environments.
- Assist in onboarding new users and ensuring they have the necessary virtual resources.
- Regularly audit Active Directory for expired and disabled users and ensuring groups and memberships have been removed.
- System Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly monitor the health and performance of the virtual environments using monitoring tools.
- Generate reports on system performance, user activity, and other metrics as required utilizing the RMM and other related tools.
- Suggest improvements or upgrades based on performance data and user feedback.
- Documentation: Maintain and update documentation related to the VDI and VSI environments, including setup guides, troubleshooting procedures, and system configurations.
- Assist in creating user manuals and other instructional materials for end-users.
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, including network engineers, security teams, and help desk staff, to ensure seamless operation of the virtual environments.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on improving and securing the on-premise virtual and cloud environments.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Technical Proficiency: Basic understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Citrix, Microsoft).
- Basic experience with Office 365 Administration tools and hybrid Exchange
- Familiarity with Windows Server 2019/2022 and Active Directory.
- Familiarity with Windows 10/11 Desktops
- Knowledge of networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
- Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Knowledge of Terminal & Mobile Thin Client using ESXI VMware Technology
- Experience with monitoring tools and remote desktop protocols (RDP).
- Customer Service: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to interact with the help desk technicians, as well as end-users professionally and provide clear instructions.
- Teamwork: Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to learn from senior engineers and contribute to team projects.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Job Qualifications: AS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education or technical training and experience.
- 1-3 years of related systems administration engineering experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware Certified Associate, Citrix Certified Associate) are a plus.
- Entry-level position: some experience in IT support or system administration is beneficial.
- Experience with VDI solutions or virtualization technologies is a plus.
