V-Soft Consulting is currently seeking a Communications Technician in Raritan, NJ.
Summary:
Install, test, and document wireless access points and network equipment, including documentation.
Have troubleshooting and repair skills for fiber and copper and must have a cell phone for testing applications.
Will need to be available daily M-F to take and fulfill requests from global engineering team.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

- HS diploma with 2-3 years working in Telecommunications or related field.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Job Responsibilities:
- Install 1U network equipment and patch per cable matrix.
- Install Cat 6 and low-voltage system cabling at the client location.
- Documenting/testing and labeling.
- Schedule site access and ensure equipment is available before dispatch.
- Support device configuration, troubleshooting, and authentication via lab TACACS and local credentials.
- Create and maintain lab documentation including diagrams, configs, cabling, inventory, rack elevations, logins.
- Support lab virtual machine instances that run network functions like ISE, EVE-NG, F5 and others.
- Update software and firmware on all lab devices.
- Coordinate with other V-Soft team members for racking and cabling requirements.
- Be comfortable working directly with the engineering and automation team members to run testing or reconfigure the lab for required topologies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position holds no formal supervisory authority.
Work Environment:
- This position operates largely in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard communications installation equipment, an 8-10’ ladder, scissor lift, hand tools, and electronic certification equipment. Company vehicles for the transport of materials, equipment, and tools will be provided.
Physical Demands:
- This is an installation position role, and lifting, standing, and climbing ladders are daily functions. This would require the ability to lift materials and perform construction-related activities.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time on-site position at various locations. The employee must be available Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Workers will be reimbursed for Cell Phone use.
- Except for emergencies or unusual circumstances, the job duties and responsibilities should be carried out during an 8-hour workday and/or 40-hour workweek.
