IT System Engineer
Job Summary:
ShadowTech Labs is an industry leader in designing and implementing mission-critical, turnkey security solutions for the DoD, DoE, and critical infrastructure in the U.S. We design and implement highly technical solutions merged with a tactical focus to make our nation and those who defend it safer. We are seeking a qualified IT System Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team.
The position of IT System Engineer will support system design and implementation for numerous projects and customers as well as internal operations. This position will report to the Lead System Engineer. The position will consist of working independently and within engineering and technical teams. Team members will interact with customers, vendors, and internal teams to fabricate, maintain, and troubleshoot all aspects of a complete information systems environment. The position may require occasional (10-20%) travel to U.S. nuclear power plants, military bases, and other government-run facilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work from drawings or system schematics to populate server racks with cabling or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Installation and configuration of Linux and Windows-based operating systems.
- Installation and configuration of various types of network devices, including Cisco and Ubiquiti routers, switches, and access points.
- Configuration of Active Directory, including group policy and integrating active directory-based authentication with other vendors.
- Working with virtualization and containerization platforms like VMWare, Hyper-V, and Docker.
- Working with an established O365 and hybrid Azure AD domain.
- Assisting users with day-to-day IT support.
- Cybersecurity concepts such as malware detection and mitigation; familiarizing oneself with industry regulations on cyber security, such as NEI 08-09.
- Installation and support of various video management and access control software suites.
- Working directly with bash and PowerShell scripts and Java-based applications.
- Configuration and troubleshooting a diverse spectrum of IoT devices such as cameras, motion sensors, and industrial automation appliances.
- Due to the sensitive nature of our work, this is an in-office position only. M-F, 9-5.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows Server, Windows 10/11, Ubuntu Linux, Active Directory, and 365 administration.
- Experience with medium-sized networks, including firewalls, switches, routers, access points, and supporting protocols.
- Fluent in enterprise-grade information systems hardware such as servers and storage.
- Expertise in Cyber Security with knowledge of malware, penetration testing, and mitigation strategies.
- Comfortable with working in industrial or military environments.
- Nice to have – experience with SEIMs and NIDs.
- Capable of working and communicating within a multi-disciplinary team to develop appropriate solutions meeting design, fabrication, and implementation requirements.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- At least two years experience in systems administration or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including creating and delivering presentations and design proposals to managers and clients.
