Cella has an exciting opportunity for a
Permissions Specialist at an award-winning, best-in-class, in-house creative agency at a major pharma company!
This full-service agency produces digital, video, augmented/virtual reality, and print assets and is consistently rated better than both similar in-house agencies and external competitors—overall and with respect to innovation, execution, and client support.
The permission clearance specialist will obtain and document copyright use details for content and data assets used in pharmaceutical materials. This person will be responsible for timely and accurate rights clearance, copyright lines, and documentation of licenses as well as be responsible for researching, securing permissions, and documenting asset use details for copyrighted text, data, images, and video assets.
Our ideal candidate has two years of permission clearance experience and excellent research and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Review manuscripts, design documents, or other documentation to identify all assets that require copyright review.
- Research assets, including fair use laws and copyright holder information, to determine appropriate next steps.
- Confirm public domain assets.
- Collaborate with art and design to manage image licenses and permissions.
- Request permissions directly from rightsholders or through online permission portals, including customizing permission request letters.
- Review and approve permission agreements by confirming necessary rights, identifying any usage restrictions, negotiating fees and discounts when possible, and capturing complete and accurate authoring credit information/credit lines.
- Maintain accurate records of assets, permissions, and licenses.
- Cultivate productive relationships with third-party sources and rightsholders to streamline the process of acquiring permissions to use content.
- Communicate permissions gaps to content teams and research and provide back-up options as necessary.
- Communicate status of projects to stakeholders and business partners in a timely manner.
- Balance schedule and workload to meet deadlines for assigned projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Journalism, Literature, or another relevant field.
- Two years of permissions clearance experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong understanding of fair use policies.
- General knowledge of publication production processes.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sense of initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work effectively with a geographically dispersed team as well as independently.
