Position Summary
The Company is seeking a qualified Vice President of Risk Management to join our dynamic team. This position will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for managing, supervising, developing and implementing strategic plans and objectives for Workers' Compensation product offerings. This individual will be the primary relationship manager with third-party vendor partners which provide Workers' Compensation services, including insurance carriers, actuaries and third-party administrators. The ideal candidate will be able to lead and execute the coordination of multiple projects within required timeframes and expectations, demonstrate excellence in communication skills, possess the ability to perform detail-oriented tasks, and interact, coordinate, follow up, and effectively communicate with Risk Management team members, internal functional teams, clients, vendors, carriers and third-party administrators.

- Oversee development and administration of the Workers’ Compensation programs and carrier insurance contracts.
- Direct and monitor the activities of the Claims, Underwriting, Safety and Risk Operations teams.
- Establish and maintain relationships with insurance carriers, brokers and third-party administrators.
- Negotiate annual Workers’ Compensation renewal with insurance carrier, third-party administrator and other relating partners.
- Develop a long-term strategic plan for the Workers’ Compensation product offering which provides “best in class” services to clients and worksite employees and controls overall program costs.
- Work with the Executive Leadership Team to implement the long-term strategic plan.
- Develop reporting package and KPI’s covering claims, pricing, profitability, and compliance for the Workers’ Compensation product which will allow for the on-going performance evaluation of the Workers’ Compensation product.
- Evaluate the Workers’ Compensation product performance and implement actions necessary to maintain a stable program, improve program performance over time and achieve long-term strategic objectives.
- Engage with independent actuary firms to provide actuarial reports and various analyses for the Workers’ Compensation programs as appropriate.
- Develop underwriting guidelines for the acceptance of new clients and periodic review of existing clients to determine prospective client expected impact and current client performance as it relates to Workers’ Compensation.
- Working with the Executive Leadership and Finance, participate in the development of pricing models to achieve desired financial result for the Workers’ Compensation product.
- Develop policies and procedures to ensure that clients are provided with the tools necessary to manage worksite safety and help mitigate the Workers’ Compensation risk.
- Responsible for leading all operational, administrative and compliance functions related to enterprise Workers’ Compensation programs, including the production of certificates of insurance to clients and other stakeholders.
- Oversee completion of Worker’s Compensation policy audits.
- Collaborate with the internal technology team in establishing accurate and consistent Workers’ Compensation data as part of the company-wide data warehouse. Responsible for the overall data integrity of information used in performance evaluation of the program.
- Travel as needed to perform the essential functions of the job and interact with the Executive Leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
- Minimum of 10-years of experience (five years in a management capacity) in managing all aspects of a Workers’ Compensation program including underwriting, claims management, field safety, risk operations and compliance and relationships with service providers.
- Previous management experience in a risk management position with a Professional Employer Organization and high-deductible captive insurance programs is a plus.
- Degree from an accredited university in business administration, insurance or related field.
- A successful candidate must have excellent communication and people skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to function as a remote employee or tethered to one of our locations leading a distributed workforce.
