Responsibilities
Title: System Engineer
Location: Hybrid, DC area
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and plan IT systems and infrastructure based on business needs.
- Develop system architecture blueprints and documentation.
- Select and configure hardware, software, and network components.
- Install and configure server hardware and operating systems.
- Set up and manage virtualization technologies.
- Support the deployment and configuration of network equipment, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Administer and maintain servers, storage systems, and network devices.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations.
- Implement security measures and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure.
- Manage and troubleshoot SD-WAN connectivity and network protocols.
- Design and Implement a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Citrix DaaS Desktop as a Service in AWS, and on Azure VDI.
- Implement and monitor network security measures.
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Perform regular backups, test restores, and ensure data integrity.
- Coordinate disaster recovery drills and responses.
- Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline system administration tasks.
- Implement configuration management for efficient and consistent system management.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
- Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Analyze system performance data to forecast resource requirements.
- Plan and execute capacity upgrades as needed.
- Ensure systems are compliant with Federal regulations and security standards.
- Implement security patches and updates in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA
- At least eight (8) years of experience of infrastructure, cloud, security architecture, design, and development for Federal IT Organizations.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco).
- Demonstrated experience with Cisco products.
- Demonstrated experience with monitoring tools (eg. Splunk, CrowdStrike)
- Demonstrated experience with Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) design and implementation/
- Proven experience in system administration and network management.
- Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux/Unix), virtualization technologies, and network protocols.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security measures.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
- Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
- Skilled communicator with clients and employees.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated outstanding level of professionalism in providing client support, including ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.

Target Salary Range
$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
