Position Purpose:
The Infrastructure Engineer II (IEII) enhances IT infrastructure with a focus on advanced server management, cloud integration, and complex network configurations. This role is central to leading efforts in infrastructure improvement, automation, and scalability, aiming to elevate system performance, security, and operational efficiency. The IEII leverages deep technical knowledge to solve intricate IT problems and provides guidance to junior staff, fostering a knowledgeable team dynamic. IEII undertakes more complex tasks and plays a key role in the technological advancement of the organization’s IT infrastructure.

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge And Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience in IT support.
- 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure, specifically focusing on system optimization and security, in a role of similar capacity.
- Proficiency in server administration, with the ability to set up, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, coupled with a thorough understanding of firewall concepts and their application in managing server security.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, subnets, routing, and DNS management.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience in managing and optimizing critical infrastructure components, including servers, storage, and networking equipment.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.
- Scripting and automation skills such as like PowerShell, Python, or Bash, along with a solid understanding of source control practices using Git.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes is a plus.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for resolving complex technical issues.
- Understanding of IT security principles and best practices, including securing server environments and data.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
- Leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Project management and organizational skills for handling infrastructure projects.
- Expertise in Device Client Management.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience in IT support.
- Relevant certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, or certifications from IaC tool providers.
- Proficiency in data center operations, including power and cooling management.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Hands-on experience leading or participating in infrastructure projects, including migrations, upgrades, and automation initiatives.
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining detailed infrastructure documentation.
- Effective leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Background in academic IT environments.

INFRASTRUCTURE OPERATIONS
- Manages and optimizes complex server environments for high availability, clustering, and load balancing, including cloud-based infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud; encompasses performance optimization and troubleshooting.
- Oversees container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, focusing on orchestration, scaling, and efficient management.
- Handles advanced networking tasks including VLAN segmentation, routing, VPN configuration, and ensures network security compliance; directs SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management and implements cybersecurity measures while maintaining compliance with industry standards (FISMA, PCI, GDPR, HIPAA).
