This is a senior technical position, requiring current, hands-on technical experience. The position may eventually evolve to a leadership position, but for this effort we need people to be hands-on.
Position requires work in a SCIF. Telework is not available, but hours are flexible.
Must have TS/SCI with active (<= 6 years) polygraph. Will consider candidates with poly >6 but must be willing to retake and pass prior to start.
Position Description
Performs orchestration, sustainment, and evolution of a portfolio of mission critical applications and services supporting a major Directorate within a U.S. Intelligence Community (IC).
Responsibilities Include
- Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers.
- Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.
- Performs systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts.
- Provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Provision/harden Linux operating systems.
- Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Must have familiarization with scripting and installing applications from root files. Working knowledge of reviewing of security scans, applying fixes to resolve noted deficiencies and ability to work with and run STIGs via a viewer or other automated tools.

- Requires Bachelor’s degree in related field of study with 8 or more years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Must have TS/SCI with active (<= 6 years) polygraph. Will consider candidates with poly >6 but must be willing to retake and pass prior to start.
- Security+ or other IAT II/III level certification that is currently active
- Linux (CentOS, RHEL, and/or Oracle). This position requires strong Linux skills with current/very recent experience., to include experience with Linux OS upgrades in a cloud environment.
- Experience working in an AWS environment and familiarity with console accesses to provision, maintain and monitor servers.
- Performing snapshots, disaster recovery, performance tuning
- Installation, STIG hardening, patching
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and Tier 1 communication skills
- Experience developing and maintaining critical documentation (SIPs, SAGs, SOPs, Getting started guides)
Desired Skills
- Experience working with Agile scrum teams
- Experience with ElasticSearch
- Cloud (EC2s, S3, Elasticache), Kafka, Openshift, Docker, Keycloak, Wildfly
- PKI certificates, SSL, service accounts
- Maintaining multiple environment types (physical, virtual, cloud)
- Experience supporting security audits and testing events.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or field applicable to the position required.
- 10 or more years of relevant experience required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
