The Head of Security will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive information security strategy to protect the company's digital assets, intellectual property, and operational technologies. The Head of Security will work with all areas of the business to develop a "best in class" information security and compliance program to assess appropriate technology platform risks and protect the company’s informational assets. As such, the Head of Security acts as an advisor to the company’s CIO regarding compliance with the Information Security Policies.
Responsibilities include strategy, architecture, solutions design, program coordination and execution, awareness, outreach, business management, risk management, Incident management and reporting on information security program effectiveness. This position requires a seasoned leader with strong business acumen and detailed working knowledge of information security technologies, practices, policies, and their application to a business.
Location: This role will start remote and then will be working out of Marshall, MS, with expectation to be on-Site once building construction and timing is established.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and implement an enterprise-wide information security strategy and program.
- Ensure the security of the company's digital assets, including proprietary information, intellectual property, and customer data.
- Oversee the protection of operational technologies (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) used in battery manufacturing processes.
- Lead the information security team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security threats.
- Establish and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards to comply with industry regulations and best practices.
- Implement and manage security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection.
- Implement and manage security technologies to monitor access to physical locations using camera monitoring systems, badges, digital accessing and other.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with IT, Operations, Legal, and other departments to ensure comprehensive security coverage.
- Ensure Compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST)
- Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to manage regulatory requirements.
- Lead the responses to security incidents and breaches, including investigation, containment and remediation.
- Conduct post-incident analysis and implement improvements.
- Assess and manage the security of third-party vendors and service providers.
- Negotiate security requirements in contracts and service level agreements.
- Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for employees.
- Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Report on the status of information security initiatives to the executive team and board of directors.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in information security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in securing operational technologies (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of information security frameworks, standards, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Experience with risk management, incident response, and vulnerability management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
