The Network and Systems Administrator (SA) is a full stack engineer responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, security, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware including workstations, servers, switches, firewalls, storage arrays, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities of the System Administrator:
· Maintain and configure firewalls, IPS/IDS and all host security activities.
· Ensure network stability and uptime; perform network and security audits.
· Manage and oversee ACL’s and other routing tasks and maintenance.
· Manage and administer Windows operating systems and Active Directory.
· Manage multiple server virtualization platforms.
· Provide on-call technical support, be able to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
· Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required.
· Ensure presence and validity of system backups and replication within multiple platforms such as Zerto and Cohesity.
· Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
· Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
· Administer and maintain user access rights on multiple platforms such as Active Directory, O365, Forcepoint, VPN and internal custom developed applications.
· Provide desktop support as needed to 100+ users internally.
· Participate and support ongoing software deployments that include deploying websites and SQL Server script execution.
· Support recurring internal and external auditing of all technology assets and systems.
Job Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements of the System Administrator:
· Bachelor’s degree in system administration, System Engineering, Information Technology/Systems or equivalent on the job experience.
· Solid knowledge of firewalls, routing, load balancers and networking including hands-on experience with
o Cisco 55xx series ASA’s and/or PaloAlto 8xx series NextGen Firewalls
o Wildfire IPS/IDS
o Kemp Load Balancers
o Cisco Switches
· Windows 10 & 11, Outlook/Exchange and Active Directory environment experience.
· Seven to ten years hands-on System Administrator experience with the following:
o VMWare vSphere, ESX 8.0 forward
o iSCSI configuration and management.
o Windows Server (2016/2019 Standard & Enterprise)
o MS O365
o Exchange, Active Directory, InTune, Purview, Defender, SCCM and WSUS.
o Microsoft SQL Server a plus
o IIS, Apache
o LAN/WAN security (hardware firewalls, Anti-virus, spam control technologies)
· Configuration and maintenance experience with
o Dell server hardware
o Dell SAN storage array or equivalent
o VoIP Phone systems (RingCentral or equivalent) a plus
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to tailor your approach to work with all types of clients and team members.
· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, team-oriented environment.
· Capacity to show empathy and good bedside manner.
· Position deals with a variety of problems and sometimes must decide which answer is best. Candidates must possess the ability to critically think on their feet.
Desired Skill Sets and Requirements of the System Administrator:
· Experience with compliance and Security Audits such as SAS70 and SSAE16/18 SOC2 a plus.
· Experience hosting and supporting SaaS platforms.
· Cloud Hosting (Azure/AWS.)
· Experience using and administering Help Desk solutions such as BMC TrackIt!, Remedy.
· Finance and banking industry background a plus.
· Desire to pursue ongoing professional development and certifications.
· Passion for technology in and outside the workplace.
· Experience working in rapid, fast paced environments.
· Comfortable accepting failure on the way to success, able to adjust and respond rapidly while remaining emotionally detached from the challenge at hand.
