In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing and enhancing the credit risk framework of our organization. Your focus will be on overseeing credit risk audits, ensuring robust internal controls, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Your expertise will drive improvements in our credit risk management practices, collaborating closely with our risk management and internal audit teams to strengthen governance.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk Management:
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other data to assess client credit risk.
- Evaluate creditworthiness and provide recommendations for credit approvals, ensuring adherence to internal controls and risk policies.
- Conduct audits of credit risk management processes to identify gaps and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Review and ensure compliance with established credit risk policies and procedures in credit decision documentation.
Portfolio Monitoring & Audit
- Monitor credit portfolio performance, identifying emerging risks and areas needing audit attention.
- Audit credit portfolios to ensure risk exposure aligns with organizational risk appetite and regulatory limits.
- Prepare audit reports detailing findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct follow-up audits to verify effective resolution of previously identified issues.
Risk Mitigation & Control Assessment
- Collaborate with the Credit Risk Manager to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Assess the effectiveness of credit risk controls and suggest improvements to enhance the risk management framework.
- Audit the implementation of credit terms and conditions to ensure they align with approved policies and mitigate risk effectively.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure credit risk activities and audits adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Support internal and external audit teams by providing necessary documentation and insights related to credit risk assessments and controls.
- Prepare and present audit findings and recommendations to senior management and the audit committee.
Collaboration & Communication
- Clearly communicate audit findings and risk mitigation recommendations to management.
- Serve as a liaison between the credit risk and internal audit departments to ensure alignment on risk-related issues.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
- 5-10+ years of experience in credit risk analysis, auditing, or a related field within a financial institution.
- Strong understanding of credit risk principles, financial statement analysis, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with credit risk audits, internal controls, and compliance reviews is highly desirable.
Skills
- Excellent analytical and audit skills with a focus on improving internal controls related to credit risk.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify areas of risk and non-compliance.
- Effective communication and presentation skills for conveying audit findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and audit management software; experience with credit risk management tools is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
