Network Engineer - Juniper, Broadband, Fixed Wireless

This organization is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer to drive the planning and delivery of capacity within our client’s network and data center locations. This role involves managing complex infrastructure projects, including capacity planning, installations, retrofits, and service migrations. The candidate will ensure that the transmission network is designed with adequate capacity to handle multi-service demands, effectively manage the network to prevent congestion, achieve capacity targets, and support the deployment of new or upgraded sites and circuits.

Focus:
- Develop detailed specifications and schematic engineering drawings for network enhancements and modifications.
- Document network topology maps, network elements, and transport circuits into our inventory system.
- Manage the capacity of mid-range systems and infrastructure.
- Communicate and provide capacity executive summaries to our partners and stakeholders.
- Utilize data analytics and capacity forecast models.
- Understand hardware infrastructure, architecture, and disaster recovery.
- Advise on system and application performance improvements with other partners and stakeholders.
- Preferably understand Agile methodologies.
- Attend frequent project update meetings to present the status of pending and ongoing projects.
- Assist in the execution of planned deployments and upgrades, supporting change management efforts within the edge networking group, and coordinating change management.
- Participate in Service Now trouble ticket resolution and reporting.
- Ensure that assigned edge networking trouble tickets or incidents follow established processes and are fully documented within Service Now.
- Assist with tier 2 support for widespread events/incidents to customers and other networking teams as needed.
- Proactively identify and troubleshoot issues related to complex network problems and work them to resolution, including communication to other networking teams.
- Participate in the evaluation of, and make recommendations on, new and emerging technologies as part of the ongoing hardware refresh cycles.
- Evaluate current and future network needs and prepare technical solutions and recommendations.
- Review the development of configuration standards.
- Assist in the design of highly complex networks and make recommendations to optimize the edge network for maximum efficiency.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with other employees, vendors, and business partners.
- Maintain a working knowledge of network monitoring tools and automation.
Skill Set:
- Practical experience with routers, switches, hubs, bridges, RF design, and related technologies, preferably within a multi-site environment.
- Experience or knowledge of MPLS, TCP/IP, Radius, BGP, OSPF, RSTP, Packet switching, and SIP protocols.
- Experience with ongoing remote-site infrastructure assessments and the ability to advise, suggest, and recommend changes and updates to older or newly acquired sites.
- Experience with troubleshooting, upgrades, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
- Proven experience serving as the primary point of contact for the network infrastructure team.
- Experience administering and/or managing a large-scale VoIP system.
- Experience working as part of the design and implementation team for network infrastructure, including network security hardware and software.
- Current or relevant with Windows Server Administration, including knowledge or experience with DNS and DHCP.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with various groups within the network team, including RF Design, Real Estate, Construction, Operations, Facilities, System Performance, and the Area Planning team.
- Experience managing vendors to meet targeted network milestones and turn-up dates.
- Ability to provide input for budget and overall planning, working within the financial constraints of the allocated budget.
- Experience managing projects involving new technologies and services in wireless site engineering and operations within the region.
- Ability to adopt current and provide new methods/procedures for interconnect tracking.
- Experience working to improve processes that assist in communication and coordination with other network teams.
- Experience providing project coordination, traffic engineering, and resource management.
- Proficiency in creating Visio diagrams of the edge network to document new and existing network elements, particularly those classified as specialty or field networks.
- Ability to maintain documentation for the configuration of network components, including setup, installation, and overall deployment of network hardware and software.
