We are seeking a Vice President of Business Development and Innovation who will evaluate and lead the rollout of already developed new products, lead the improvement of current product lines, and investigate and drive entry into new areas of business. This role will partner with Robinson's businesses (Fans, Machine, and Service). This role requires an exceptional leader with a strategic vision, the ability to identify and evaluate new markets and product opportunities, and deep mechanical and engineering knowledge. You will collaborate closely with other executive team members to develop and implement the company’s strategy, ensuring our engineering and product development efforts align with broader business goals.
This role can be located in Zelienople (Pittsburgh), PA, Lakeland (Tampa), FL, or Salt Lake City, Utah.
What You’ll Do
- Provide the leadership and strategic vision for the engineering and innovation teams; collaborate with sales and production to address challenging customer situations and internal responses.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team; lead the engineering group to develop every team member’s skills in a way that builds a team.
- Investigate and implement cutting-edge technologies and other methods to improve current product offerings and manufacturing processes.
- Strategically seek, Initiate, and oversee efforts to explore and integrate emerging technologies into new and existing products.
- Facilitate research and development use of resources to improve current products and develop new products.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements to maintain a competitive edge; conduct market research to identify areas for expansion, including untapped markets and product opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and launch new products that align with market needs and company strengths. Lead the launch. Check results. Adjust as necessary.
- Evaluate developed products to determine whether, when, and where they should be launched into the market. Lead the launch. Check the results. Adjust as necessary.
- Analyze competitive products and trends, recommending strategies to capture additional market share; evaluate and pursue strategic partnerships or acquisitions that align with the company's growth objectives.
- Participate as a key executive team member, contributing to the development and execution of company strategy.
- Collaborate with other executives to align engineering and innovation initiatives with overall business objectives.
- Lead efforts to operationalize strategic plans within the technical team.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years experience in leadership, with a focus on innovative product development
- Display patience and willingness to work with a diverse group of people and a culture rich with history and knowledge but desirous of an innovative future.
- Ability to build trust and sustainable, collaborative business relationships with peers and internal and external customers.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple strategic initiatives.
- Ability to travel.
