Job Overview
The IT Administrator is responsible for the comprehensive management and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure. This role encompasses the administration of storage devices (SANs), VMware hosts, Windows servers and desktops, mobile devices, VoIP phones, web-based applications, inventory management, and cyber security. Additionally, the IT Administrator will perform light networking duties and provide support to ensure the optimal performance and security of all IT systems.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Storage Management:
- Configure, manage, and maintain Storage Area Networks (SANs).
- Monitor storage performance and capacity, ensuring efficient data management and availability.
- Implement and manage data backup and recovery solutions.
Virtualization:
- Manage VMware hosts and virtual machines, including provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Perform regular updates and patches to ensure system security and stability.
Server and Desktop Management:
- Administer Windows servers and desktops, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Ensure system availability, performance, and security through regular updates and patches.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
Mobile Device Management:
- Configure and support mobile devices for secure access to government resources.
VoIP Phones:
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot VoIP phone systems.
- Ensure high availability and performance of communication systems.
Web-Based Applications:
- Manage and support applications unique to the organization.
- Ensure applications are updated, secure, and functioning correctly.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of IT assets, including hardware and software inventory.
- Track and manage IT equipment lifecycle from procurement to disposal.
Cybersecurity:
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect IT systems and data.
- Monitor for security breaches, perform risk assessments, and respond to incidents.
- Ensure compliance with relevant security policies and regulations.
Networking:
- Perform basic networking tasks such as troubleshooting and configuring switches and device connections.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and ensure network performance.
User Support:
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, addressing hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on new technologies and security best practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Create user guides and training materials for end-users.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of experience in IT administration in a Windows environment.
- Proficient in managing and maintaining SANs, VMware, Windows servers and desktops.
- Experience with mobile device management, VoIP systems, and web-based applications.
- Basic understanding of networking principles and equipment.
- CompTIA Security+ CE required.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
