Overview
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the SVP, North America Solutions is responsible for leading Gallagher Bassett Worker’s Compensation Solutions. This position is responsible for the vision and strategy of claims related matters including establishing operational excellence across the business and development and execution of worker’s compensation claims strategies to deliver optimal loss cost management and customer satisfaction in support of overall business objectives while maintaining The Gallagher Way.
Core to your success, you will collaborate with and lead business leaders and key stakeholders to manage and achieve high standards of productivity, efficiency and alignment of organizational goals while minimizing risk exposure to the organization.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Analyze existing Worker’s Compensation claims strategy to ascertain effectiveness. Develop and implement appropriate claims strategy in conjunction with the CEO and Executive leaders.
- Provide vision and leadership to the Claims organization in accordance with the established strategy.
- Cultivate a culture that excels in communication and collaboration.
- Lead in the development, implementation and continuous planning of all claim programs, metrics, processes, results and initiatives.
- Collaborate with various departments and other stakeholders to ensure knowledge sharing on market trends, legal changes and loss developments.
- Leverage resources, technology, and processes to drive innovation through the use of predicative analytics within the department.
- Understand and utilize internal claim best practices for proper and consistent claims performance, compliance and achievement of business goals.
- Work with the Leadership Team on cost containment strategies including allocated and unallocated expenses within the Worker’s Compensation Claims operation.
- Create the annual operational goals, objectives and budget.
- Supervise and analyze effectiveness of panel counsel to assure compliance with agreed upon metrics and recommend changes to the President CEO where necessary.
- Ensure sound litigations practices, including partnering with legal department.
- Perform other duties and or projects as assigned by the President CEO.
- Ability to inspire and create the conditions to enable an engaged and motivated workforce.

- Analyzes current and future trends and needs of industry and accurately assesses functional responsibilities, competitive strengths and vulnerabilities and actively puts plans in place to position GB at the forefront.
- Proactively identifies future needs, trends, business challenges and profit opportunities and adapts and innovates to maintain GB’s competitive advantage.
- Understands how to navigate through internal politics within regional GB and the Gallagher Group.
- Manages multiple priorities and can action and flex priorities that are best for the business at the time.
- Has the ability to make hard decisions based on long term strategic intent, growth and what’s best for the business.
Relationships and Service
- Proactively builds, nurtures and maintains effective industry contacts and relationships with Government, C suite client representatives, customers, intermediaries and other external/internal stakeholders to maximize retention, new business opportunities and builds the GB brand (breadth and depth).
- Presents as a key notespeaker, leads or speaks at conferences, holds discussion forums, as well as presenting at all levels.
- Networks at key events/conferences and as a GB representative in industry association and events.
- Maintains a high profile (personal brand) based on experience and credibility in the market (g.LinkedIn, access to clients, writing best practice articles, presence at conferences/events).
Operational Excellence
- Upholds our risk, governance and ethical business practices and activities in accordance with the laws and legislation.
- Will ensure rigorous quality management to deliver exceptional claims services and outcomes, in compliance with jurisdictional requirements.
- Will develop an operational and technology roadmap to meet the needs of current and future GB customers. Maintains deep knowledge of industry and market trends.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required.
About You
- Minimum of 15 years of Worker’s Compensation claims industry experience in progressively increasing leadership roles through both field and home office positions. Experience building and executing claims strategies; proven track record of excellence in claims operations and infrastructure development (e.g. systems, service centers; product development/management; and regulatory support).
- Demonstrated initiative, autonomy, commitment to process improvements and the ability to think strategically balanced with practical day-to-day execution.
- Excellent communication skills and proven negotiation and problem-solving skills.
