Seeking for an
Entry-Level Network Monitoring/Entry-Level Network Engineer resource at
Level 0 (L0) to handle basic monitoring tasks in their network services.
This position prefers candidates who are local to the area.
Summary
The client is seeking someone with basic
network monitoring experience, focusing on
vigilance, ticketing, and initial response to network issues. While advanced troubleshooting isn't expected, having a basic understanding of network services and experience working with tools like
ServiceNow is essential. The role is likely well-suited for someone new to network operations but familiar with network concepts and monitoring systems.
Key Responsibilities - Eyes on Glass:
- Continuously monitor network services in real-time, ensuring that critical components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers are functioning properly.
- Be alert to any network issues or anomalies and respond quickly to any alerts or notifications.
- Ticket Creation:
- Use ServiceNow to create and manage incident tickets whenever a network issue arises.
- Ensure proper documentation of any problems observed and escalate issues to higher-level engineers if necessary.
- Basic Network Knowledge:
- The role requires a general understanding of network services, including:
- Routing & Switching: Basic understanding of how data is directed and managed across a network.
- Firewalls: Familiarity with the purpose and basic configuration of firewalls to ensure network security.
- Load Balancers: Knowledge of distributing traffic efficiently across multiple servers or network resources.
Level 0 (L0) Responsibilities - L0 resources typically perform foundational tasks:
- Monitoring and alerting: Identify potential problems but not necessarily resolving complex issues.
- Escalating to L1 or L2 engineers for more advanced troubleshooting or resolution.
