Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Oracle Linux Administrator to join our dynamic team in a remote work environment. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in systems management, working collaboratively with Oracle Linux systems administration, database, application, and networking teams. Your responsibilities will encompass managing operating system patches, architecting and designing systems, and providing comprehensive support and maintenance across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), on-premises infrastructure, and other cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage operating system patching to ensure system integrity and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust and scalable systems.
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support for both Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and on-premises systems.
- Install and configure servers, ensuring seamless operation of all related programs and support tools.
- Coordinate with database administrators and application support personnel to apply operating system patches supplied by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
- Support virtualization technologies including KVM, OLVM, and Oracle VM.
- Maintain proficiency in Oracle ZFS storage appliances or similar technologies.
- Automate processes to improve application and operating system environments.
- Make informed decisions that align with essential job functions and organizational goals.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to team members and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
Required Skills
- A minimum of 5-10 years of practical experience in Oracle Linux administration, including system software installation, customization, and support in Oracle Cloud (OCI) and on-premises infrastructure.
- Intermediate to advanced technical skills in Oracle Cloud (OCI) or other cloud platforms, and Oracle Linux (versions 6, 7, and 8) for daily operational tasks.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as KVM, Oracle VM, and Oracle PCA.
- Familiarity with storage and backup technologies.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
- Candidates with 6+ years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are encouraged to apply.
