Job Summary
The Information Security Engineer plays a crucial role in shaping and safeguarding Tenaska's systems and data by gathering requirements, researching, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge information security solutions. Leveraging advanced technologies, this position proactively analyzes and responds to emerging cyber threats, ensuring robust data and system integrity through adherence to industry best practices.

Essential Job Functions
- Drive the development and enhancement of modern security solutions through hands-on research, design, installation, updates, troubleshooting, and resolution.
- Champion the monitoring of critical systems and networks to ensure comprehensive visibility and proactive alerting for cybersecurity threats.
- Analyze and respond to emerging threats and anomalies using a range of advanced security technologies, including intrusion detection systems, web filters, network anomaly detection, anti-virus/malware tools, SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), and vulnerability scanners.
- Collaborate with technology leaders to swiftly address and resolve vulnerabilities across servers, PCs, network devices, and applications.
- Support the execution of incident response plans, minimizing the impact of cyber-attacks and accelerating recovery efforts.
- Participate in internal and third-party audits, security assessments, and penetration tests to ensure robust security practices.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and upgrading of security measures and controls to stay ahead of evolving threats.
- Contribute to security awareness training and testing initiatives, fostering a culture of vigilance and resilience.
- Assist in defining security goals and shaping the strategic direction for overall security efforts.
- Take on special projects as assigned, adding value to our dynamic security landscape.
Education/Experience/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience is required.
- 5 or more years of relevant work experience is required.
- Experience with designing security solutions using best practices and standards.
- Strong knowledge with a range of security tools is required, including intrusion prevention systems, extended detection and response, cloud security tools, SIEM, SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), and vulnerability scanners.
- CISSP, Security+, GIAC, and Cloud Security certifications are preferred.
