The Director of Project Management is responsible for overseeing the execution of all gas and fiber projects, ensuring adherence to field safety, quality control, prioritizing and effective communication. This role will provide strategic leadership and direction to Project Managers, collaborating with other departments to deliver projects within budgets, timelines, and performance specifications while aligning with safety and company objectives.
General

- Collaborate closely with other members of the Operations Department to ensure that all commitments are delivered on time, on budget and on spec.
Role-Specific
- Assigns Project Managers and directs them in all project phases including pre-design, design, pre-construction, construction and close-out.
- Provide oversight of service line process and ensure seamless handoffs between Project Management and Service Managers.
- Ensure timely delivery of fiber services to communities through coordination with General Manager, Community Delivery.
- Provides operational, financial, and managerial leadership for successful implementation of project activities.
- Ensures the availability of qualified contractors to meet project requirements effectively.
- Maintains effective relationships with Developers and Contractors.
- Ensures the adequacy and effectiveness of processes to oversee the work of contractors, including compliance with safety policies, regulatory standards, and quality expectations.
- Ensures projects are well documented to mitigate risk and facilitate timely delivery.
- Conduct thorough reviews of the bill of materials to ensure accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with timelines.
- Leverages problem solving and influencing skills to manage cross functional project teams, stakeholders, and customer expectations in a dynamic environment.
- Oversee the process of all change orders, evaluating their impact on costs and schedule
- Develops, monitors and analyzes project metrics to propose operational and cost improvements.
- Review invoices and applications for payment to assure accuracy of completion percentages and recommend approval or disapproval.
- Lead post-project evaluations to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or equivalent amount of relevant work experience
- 7+ years’ experience in a related role, including experience in a senior or lead role capacity working with field maintenance/construction projects.
- Experience of gas line installation and/or internet fiber is highly desirable.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements pertaining to natural gas utility and transmission operations would be beneficial.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with personnel at all levels, both within and outside the company.
- Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of organization and attention to detail.
- Strong budgeting skills, with a focus on cost reduction without compromising quality.
