Position Purpose
Upholds the Credit Union’s mission of “We do the right thing one member, one employee, and one experience at a time to strengthen the communities we serve” by playing a key role in maintaining and securing the organization’s ITS infrastructure, deploying software updates, managing system configurations, ensuring the safety and integrity of data, and protecting against unauthorized access, cyber threats, and data breaches. The role requires an understanding of both on-premises and cloud-based environments, as well as the ability to research, troubleshoot issues and implement security solutions. Works closely with the ITS Infrastructure and the ITS Security teams on all security related issues and ITS projects.
Essential Responsibilities
Technical Skills
- Implement, maintain, and oversee the security of networks, systems, and data to safeguard against unauthorized access, cyber threats, and data breaches.
- Configure and manage security tools and software, such as firewalls, antivirus programs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Stay informed on the latest security trends, threats, and control measures to proactively protect the organization’s IT environment.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards for information security.
- Collaborate with ITS teams to identify, assess, and remediate potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Implement and enforce security baselines and configurations across all managed systems.
- Ensure timely patching and update compliance across all managed devices, minimizing exposure to vulnerabilities.
- Monitor and manage distribution points to ensure the efficient deployment of software and updates.
- Create and maintain workstation images for streamlined deployment and consistency across the organization.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware and software assets, ensuring proper tracking and management.
- Monitor and report on deployment status, providing insights and ensuring transparency in the update process.
- Assists team engineers, and administrators, ensuring continuity of operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
Sets and Monitors the Department’s Standards
- Identifies improvements and efficiency of business and ITS processes and systems.
- Provides support to the ITS Teams during and after business hours.
Member Advocacy
- Treats all members and co-workers with dignity and respect.
- Resolves issues and completes requests to members’ satisfaction.
- Provides support to the ITS Support Teams during and after business hours.
Projects
- Assists in the development and implementation of new services and products.
- Identifies options for potential solutions and assesses them for security, technical, and business suitability.
- Works closely with vendors and end users ensuring that all ITS projects and support work is completed in a timely manner.
Communications
- Uses excellent communication and listening skills to communicate highly technical information to non-technical users, including employees, technicians, and vendors. This includes frequent and timely updates for all work in progress or planned.
Necessary Experience And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3-5 years of experience as a Security Administrator, System Administrator, or a similar technical role.
- Experience using remote deployment servers and in building and maintaining security systems.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, security practices, and systems administration.
- Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure automation tools.
- Familiarity with scripting languages.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours.
Work Environment And Physical Requirements
- Office environment with moderate to high level of noise.
- Frequent use of telephone, computer, multifunction printer, and other office machines.
- Prolonged sitting or standing, and ability to stay in one place or work in a confined area for extended periods.
- Frequent mental and visual concentration.
- May travel occasionally to branches for projects, meetings, seminars, or conferences.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for over 90 percent of work time.
- Some work must be performed outside of normal business hours.
- Moderate lifting of up to 50 pounds. Also, ability to transport objects weighing between 5 and 50 pounds for 5 to 10 percent of work time.
