Job Overview
As an Authorization Specialist, you will be instrumental in managing prior authorization requests, ensuring they are processed efficiently and accurately. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with the utilization management team to document requests and gather essential healthcare eligibility information.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee authorization requests for services in accordance with insurance prior authorization lists.
- Execute data entry to accurately maintain and update authorization requests within the utilization management system.
- Support the utilization management team in monitoring and documenting authorizations and referrals, complying with established policies and protocols.
- Assist in the authorization review process by recording medical information, including history, diagnosis, and prognosis for clinical review.
- Stay informed about the latest healthcare authorization processes, policies, and procedures.
- Input and rectify claims information from source documents.
- Maintain precise records, files, and documentation.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Adhere to all relevant policies and standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in data entry, referrals, and prior authorization is essential.
- Customer service experience is mandatory.
- Typing proficiency of 45 WPM is required.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
- Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
Qualifications
- Must be a resident of Texas.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Compensation And Benefits
- Schedule: Monday: 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday-Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Starting Salary: $17/hr. (Based on experience)
