Wizard is a startup with a mission to bring world-class perks to employers of all sizes, completely paid for by advertisers. We’re backed by tier-1 funds – including Sequoia and Village Global (Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg) – and founded by a second-time founder (sold previous company to Lyft; Forbes 30u30). We’ve raised a $2.5M pre-seed round, have 20,000+ customers on our waitlist, and are now in the process of building out our core leadership team.
The Founding CTO role:
As a Founding CTO, you will work with our CEO to build the entire technical roadmap for the business. You will solely be responsible for hiring, managing, and training all future engineers and will have a pivotal role in shaping the future trajectory of the company. As one of the highest equity holders in the company, you will have real skin in the game and will relentlessly focus on building the best product experience for our customers.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Highly entrepreneurial mindset – you’ll be the first engineer so will be expected to roll up your sleeves to ship excellent code and also help hire & build the future tech team
- Full-stack engineer with experience building both web platforms & mobile apps
- Can autonomously lead very lean teams with both onshore and offshore engineers
- Previous experience building tools in the rewards, discounts, perks, and benefits categories is not necessary but a huge plus
- Previous experience building ad-tech tools is not necessary but a huge plus
- The idea of providing amazing perks (like free meal kits to employees returning from parental leave) excites and energizes you
- Hustle & winner mentality – you’re a founder at heart and will build an outstanding product with limited resources and win against all odds
Other considerations:
- Location: Chicago based or willing to temporarily relocate to Chicago
- In-person team: We work in the office min 4 days/week (option to WFH as needs arise)
- Co-founder, not employee: You will have significant co-founder equity in the company along with a founder-level base compensation and fully paid health insurance etc.
