Cloud Application Platform Engineer
W2 Contract-to-Hire
Salary Range: $135,200 - $156,000 per year
Location: Dublin, CA - Hybrid or Remote
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced cloud engineer to manage our production and non-production cloud enterprise application platforms. You will manage cloud environments following company security guidelines and provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies. In this role, you will work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company, staying up-to-date on new technologies in the cloud application space.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for introducing new cloud application services, standards, automation, and engineering.
- Align cloud application environments in accordance with Cloud CoE (Center of Excellence) for security, architecture, and engineering.
- Responsible for performance engineering and capacity planning.
- Design and configure monitoring and alerting.
- Design and build application deployment automation.
- Deploy and debug cloud initiatives as needed, following best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Train teams on implementing new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., business stakeholders, product owners, project managers, and end users) to understand functional and non-functional requirements.
- Provide Level 3 support for production incidents, identifying root causes, fixing, documenting, and implementing preventive measures.
- Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies.
- Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the organization innovate and excel.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud and strong knowledge of cloud technologies and principles
- Proven track record of service introduction and continuous improvement
- Scripting experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI, and/or Python is required
- Experience with Azure SQL and Cosmos DB is preferred
- Knowledge or experience with CI/CD tools, preferably Azure DevOps, is preferred
- Experience with Azure Event Hubs and API management is preferred
- Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, ARC, and Spring Services preferred
- Terraform experience is preferred
- Excellent understanding of cloud security
- Microsoft Azure Admin certification is a big plus
- Experience with cloud application performance and tuning
- Strong knowledge of computer networking, including cloud networking configuration and management
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Team player willing to partner with internal and external teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
