This position is in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Administration (ASA), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of Information Security (OIS), Cybersecurity Operations (CSO) located in Atlanta, Georgia, Rockville, Maryland, and Washington, District of Columbia.
Duties
You Will Perform a Variety Of The Most Challenging And Complex IT Duties Requiring The Application Of Expert Knowledge, Including Work That Involves a Combination Of Analyzing, Designing, Developing, Testing, Or Implementing Systems, Networks, And Data To Meet The Business Needs To Include Security Requirements Of Customer Organizations. Your Daily Duties Will Include:
- Modifying existing or developing new methods and approaches; interpreting, and adapting guidelines, applying new developments to previously unsolvable problems, and proposing significant changes independently or as a team member.
- Planning, designing, developing, and enhancing IT techniques and methods responsive to OCIO and HHS operational and business requirements, including efficiently using available resources.
- Leading projects and teams and independently supporting emerging IT requirements.
- Planning, coordinating, and facilitating projects and assignments in various areas that significantly impact the delivery of IT customer support and asset management.
- Conducting functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
- Designing group policies and access control lists to ensure compatibility with organizational standards, business rules, and needs.
- Identifying, organizing, facilitating and/or sustaining mutually beneficial partnerships and alliances with internal and external stakeholders.
*Duties as shown are at the full performance level (FPL) of the GS-13. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the FPL.
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.
Basic Requirement: You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Specialized Experience, GS-12:
You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing (3) of the (4) duties listed below:
- Providing Windows operating system management for local servers and other distributed computing environments (to include installing, configuring, or maintain operating systems).
- Writing custom configurations or scripts to operate a distributed server environment.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting IT system and server malfunctions.
- Applying network security policies, guidance, and procedures.
Specialized Experience, GS-13:
You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing (4) of the (5) duties listed below:
- Providing Windows operating system management for local servers and other distributed computing environments (to include installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems).
- Writing custom configurations or scripts to operate and manage a distributed server environment.
- Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving IT system and server malfunctions.
- Implementing security protocols, such as conducting vulnerability assessments and risk management.
- Implementing and monitoring network security measures.
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
