The Senior Network & Systems Administrator is responsible for provisioning, installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, software, and infrastructure systems. The role includes recommending and implementing improvements, ensuring systems meet organizational standards, and supporting second-level troubleshooting for end users. This individual also manages and administers environments including Windows servers, Nimble Storage, virtual servers, networks, and application systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow and recommend technical standards for system configurations.
- Document system configurations and monitor system status and health.
- Install, configure, and upgrade servers, applications, and perform system backups.
- Manage system updates, patches, and engage vendors for licensing, hardware, and support.
- Administer and support environments, including Microsoft Office 365, Windows servers, and data networks.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and manage network configurations.
- Troubleshoot network performance issues and maintain disaster recovery plans.
- Provide second-level end-user support when needed and assist help desk personnel.
- Be available for emergencies on a 24/7/365 basis.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and lifting.
- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and continuously engage in physical movement.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in a diverse technical environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline preferred (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering). Equivalent certifications or experience may be considered.
Skills/Experience:
- Strong experience with Microsoft Windows servers, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- 2+ years of experience administering Office 365 or Microsoft Exchange.
- Experience with VMWare and supporting IIS web servers.
- Knowledge of MS SQL Server, firewalls (Palo Alto preferred), and LAN/WAN principles.
- Experience with Nimble Storage, VEEAM backup solutions, and security certifications (preferred but not required).
