EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Sets objectives and strategies for the IT department
- Selects and implements suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimize their strategic benefits
- Designs and customizes technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience
- Plans the implementation of new systems and provide guidance to IT professionals and other staff within the organization
- Approves purchases of technological equipment and software and establish partnerships with IT provider
- Oversees the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the organization to ensure optimal performance
- Directs and organizes IT-related projects
- Monitors changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantag
- Analyzes the costs, value, and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions
- Directs the activities of a department, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards
- Serves on a variety of internal and external committees, task forces, and other agency committees to secure advocacy and influence support for programs and ideals. Initiates collaboration with internal departments and other organizations to promote organizational effectiveness, awareness, and public relations
- Provides administrative assistance to the higher level administrators; develops complex reports and correspondence
- Responds to requests for information and provides subject-matter-expert guidance to other departments, and/or outside agencies
- Evaluates and communicates the impact of potential legal or regulatory changes on the organization
- Develops and administers budgets; approves expenditures; reviews financial statements; manages financial operations
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field and seven years of management experience in area of specialty; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver’s license from state of residence
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Public or Business Administration or directly related field
- Certified Public Manager
- Project Management Professional
