Key Responsibilities
As an Information Security Engineer, you will be instrumental in evaluating, implementing, and supporting our information security technologies and protocols. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing IT and business requirements, providing objective security needs assessments.
- Planning, researching, and executing security engineering for IT systems and applications, both on-premises and in the cloud.
- Reviewing existing security controls, recommending enhancements, and implementing necessary changes.
- Conducting information security risk assessments and delivering remediation recommendations.
- Testing, evaluating, and integrating new security technologies.
- Leading technical discussions to address security risks.
- Communicating security requirements to vendors and service providers.
- Assisting with security questionnaires, agreements, and vendor risk assessments.
- Developing timelines for security initiatives.
- Reviewing system security designs to ensure the maintenance of security and minimization of risks.
- Testing the effectiveness of deployed security controls.
- Contributing to the creation of security awareness materials.
- Responding to and investigating security incidents, providing comprehensive post-event analyses.
- Assisting in disaster recovery, business continuity, and security incident response planning.
- Coordinating with external third parties, auditors, and independent penetration testing consultants.
- Keeping abreast of emerging security practices and standards through continuous education and professional involvement.
- Collaborating effectively as a vital member of the Information Security team.
Required Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Proven experience as an Information Security Engineer or a similar position (3+ years).
- Expertise in planning, researching, and designing security controls for IT systems and applications (both on-prem and cloud).
- Proficiency in cloud security engineering (AWS required; Azure and GCP preferred).
- Familiarity with security testing tools and techniques.
- An ability to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
- A solid understanding of cybersecurity threats and hacking methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of technology, particularly networks, applications, and software development.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with macOS and Windows.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, programming, database administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Professional certification in information security (such as CISSP, CASP+, or GSE) is preferred.
- Experience in the healthcare sector is a plus.
