Our Security Technology Operations team comprises qualified and experienced professionals who set industry standards within the utility sector. As technology evolves, so do our security operations, shifting from a strong field presence to more technologically driven methods. Our team manages and supports complex security systems and their integrations for fully automated solutions, including network video recorders, DVRs, identity and access management systems, drone detection, shooter detection, ground-based radar, asset management solutions, visitor management systems, user behavioral analytics systems, and other advanced technologies.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Product Specialist to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) supporting all physical security operational technologies, with a primary focus on our video management system and critical infrastructure. This role is integral to our 2nd and 3rd tier Technical Product and Application/System Specialists team, ensuring our security technologies remain healthy, secure, optimized, and operational both in data centers and in the field. Expertise in products such as Genetec and AMAG or Access Control platforms are essential.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $128,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $218,000.00
&/OR
California Minimum: $122,000.00
California Maximum: $207,000.00
Preferred Bay Area locale with occasional travel required to locations in the service territory.
Job Responsibilities
Product Ownership
- Manage the release lifecycle activities for several applications/platforms, including impact assessment, design, remediation, testing, and deployment.
- Introduce innovative solutions to enhance existing products/services and develop methods for automation and optimization.
- Define product and functional requirements or new features based on customer feedback.
- Collaborate with projects teams to optimize existing technology capacity and plan for future needs.
- Facilitate new product development with internal teams and vendors to solve customer needs.
- Offer strategic guidance, best practices, and consulting on software implementation, integration, training, and change requests.
- Act as primary liaison for vendor relationships, and participate in business, technical, and contract negotiations with vendors.
- Manage licensing, incidents, support, and upgrade processes.
Technology Stack Management
- Administer and troubleshoot various Windows operating systems (Active Directory, IIS, clustering, GPO, performance monitoring, etc.).
- Configure and troubleshoot networking equipment (switches, routers, etc.), servers, services; collaborate with IT professionals to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware/software issues where required.
- Manage SQL databases, ensuring high availability architecture and database querying/reporting.
- Administer Microsoft SQL Server and have programming experience with C#, Visual Basic, VBScript, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
- Manage technical capacity for IT products/services, primarily NVRs and cameras.
Application Management and Support
- Oversee the Genetec video management system (VMS), including Security Center, Omnicast, Mission Control, IP cameras, encoders, video matrices, NVRs, etc.
- Deploy, administer, and troubleshoot other security systems, including Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and other Critical Infrastructure Protection equipment.
- Perform regular assessments and preventative maintenance on the Genetec Video system.
- Perform timely patching and maintenance to address security vulnerabilities.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent future failures.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor other team members.
Documentation
- Contribute to documentation such as strategies, plans, designs, standards, policies, guidelines, user requirements, roadmaps, reports, metrics, process manuals, and configuration manuals.
- Produce technical business plans and maintain technical documentation related to compliance regulations (NERC CIP, FERC, TSA, CCPA, CPUC, DOT, SOCs).
Qualifications
Minimum
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- 8 years of in-depth technical experience with Genetec’s Video Surveillance platform and components
- 3 years experience and expert skills in each of these technical areas:
- Windows Server Administration
- Microsoft SQL
- Networking principles and TCP, IP, and UDP protocol stacks
- Storage principles (SAN, NAS, iSCSI) and server virtualization concepts
Desired
- MS/MBA in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with security products such as Symmetry/AMAG and/or Physical Identity and Access Management Systems (PIAM)
- Experience working in the energy and utilities sector
- Certifications / training on Genetec products
- Certifications / training in Video Analytic
- Certifications in other Access Control/Intrusion Detection systems (particularly AMAG Symmetry)
