Role Overview
NATO’s Innovation Hub (iHub) in Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking a skilled DevSecOps Engineer to support secure, reliable, and scalable digital development in defense contexts. This role focuses on integrating security into every stage of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) while enhancing the efficiency and reliability of NATO’s digital platforms. As a DevSecOps Engineer, you’ll implement and manage a security-first DevOps framework, supporting NATO’s mission by developing automated security solutions that align with NATO’s high-security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Security Integration:Implement security measures throughout the SDLC, including threat modeling, code reviews, and vulnerability assessments, while supporting automated testing and secure code deployment
- Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC):Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines that incorporate security checks at every stage, ensuring rapid, secure, and compliant software deployment
- Monitoring & Response:Manage security monitoring tools, responding swiftly to incidents and adapting defenses based on real-time data. Develop incident response plans to address potential threats
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:Work closely with NATO’s developers, IT, and cybersecurity teams to integrate secure coding practices and support the continuous improvement of security protocols
- Documentation & Compliance:Maintain comprehensive documentation of security measures and configurations, ensuring compliance with NATO standards and enhancing system resilience
Qualifications
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in DevSecOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker), programming languages (Python, Bash), and security scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify)
- Experience:5+ years in DevSecOps or related roles within secure, multinational, or defense environments. Experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform) and security monitoring solutions is highly desirable
- Education:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Information Systems Security Professional - CISSP) are a plus
- Security Clearance:active Secret clearance
