Johnson Service Group is looking for an IT Manager in the bay area, supporting one of our Contract Manufacturing Clients. The role involves leading the IT team, implementing policies, managing hardware/software updates, and supporting business growth through effective IT solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to company strategic planning by providing insights from an IT perspective, including analysis, monitoring, and reporting on operational, financial, and industry-related metrics and KPIs to both local and corporate management.
- Support the development and execution of short- and long-term plans to drive profitable growth and expansion of services through effective IT management.
- Develop, propose, and implement IT policies and procedures in alignment with corporate standards, ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Maintain regular communication with corporate teams to ensure IT services and systems are aligned with company-wide objectives and strategies.
- Recommend and support the development of cost-saving strategies, policies, and services that enhance operational performance and program outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the internal IT team to deliver critical IT functions that support business operations.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and upgrading of hardware and software systems to enhance user performance and productivity.
- Perform problem diagnosis and troubleshooting for communication systems and PC hardware/software, recommending and implementing effective solutions.
- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and standards for IT devices, software, and data management to ensure optimal functionality and currency.
- Manage software updates, network security configurations, hardware and software evaluations, and vendor contracts, including vendor management.
- Stay current with emerging IT infrastructure technologies, reporting relevant updates to IT leadership for consideration and implementation.
- Develop and implement new IT troubleshooting strategies to minimize downtime and reduce maintenance costs.
- Lead the implementation of Disaster Recovery Plans in accordance with global guidelines, ensuring business continuity for local IT infrastructure.
- Ensure adherence to global IT processes while documenting and maintaining local processes and procedures for the U.S. operation.
- Oversee regional IT facilities, including the management of local data centers, access control, climate systems, and UPS monitoring.
- Lead local IT-related projects and collaborate on global IT initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of IT experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years of experience managing staff or an IT department.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience in the field.
- Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to effectively manage and lead an IT team.
- Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships and collaborate across multicultural teams.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Self-motivated, dependable, with excellent time management and relationship-building skills.
- Hands-on experience with server and storage backend systems, including Windows Servers, VMware vSphere, IBM AIX Power, NetApp Storage, Microsoft Active Directory, and RedHat Linux.
- Expertise in desktop maintenance and support in a Windows environment, including Microsoft 365 and specialized applications.
- Practical experience in network administration, including Checkpoint firewalls, HP Aruba equipment, and wireless network management.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to participate in on-call duties as required.
