Network Engineer - IT Infrastructure
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team, supporting network design, analysis, security, and troubleshooting across a statewide network. The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in network infrastructure and security and will drive efficiencies in network process and standardization. This role requires a proactive problem-solver who excels in technical documentation and team collaboration. The work shall be performed in a hybrid setting each week, Monday through Friday, Two (2) days remote at a suitable off-site location and Three (3) days on site in Maryland.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Information Technology (IT) or related field
- Active Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise or Security Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ten (10) years of CONUS technical experience in IT networking
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field
- 10+ years of technical IT networking experience
- Recent certifications issued within the last four (4) years:
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) in Enterprise Infrastructure or Security
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
- Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE)
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and document computer networks and infrastructure
- Monitor network performance, ensuring security, disaster recovery, and business continuity
- Implement and analyze network systems, supporting capacity growth and new integrations
- Serve as a lead engineer for implementations, providing maintenance and user support
- Manage configuration and documentation of network devices, including routers, switches, and security appliances
- Provide weekly progress and status reports
Skills And Experience
- Extensive experience with Layer 2 & 3 optimization, scalable routing protocols, and SD-WAN
- Proficiency in enterprise data center and cloud networking, security services, and high-availability design
- Expertise in network security services including VPN, malware filtering, and zero-day threat protection
- Knowledge of enterprise VoIP and physical security network applications
- Ability to work independently, mentor junior team members, and communicate technical information effectively
